Refuse and recycling services are provided by ARC Disposal and Recycling. Call 847-981-0091 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Refuse and Recycling ProgramIn spring of 2007, the City of Des Plaines, in conjunction with ARC Disposal, introduced a new and improved method of collecting refuse and recyclables. Each single-family residence received (1) 95-gallon cart for refuse and (1) 65-gallon cart for recycling. There is no change in the yard waste program. Carts are safer, cleaner, have attached covers to prevent any material from littering the streets, have greater stability, are resistant to animals and insects, making neighborhoods more attractive. Communities that have instituted cart programs have witnessed significant increases in the amounts of recycling material collected. Collection HoursAll items for curbside collection must be set out no later than 6:00 am on collection day to ensure pick-up. By City Ordinance M-26-96, containers or bags may not be placed at the curb earlier than 6:00 pm the night before collection during Daylights Savings Time, or earlier than 4:00 pm during Central Standard Time (the last Sunday in October until the first Sunday in April).
