The 9th Annual Taste of Des Plaines, sponsored by the Special Events Commission, attracted approximately 25,000 to downtown this past weekend. Here are some of the totals regarding food sales from the weekend: 200 turkey legs, 900 funnel cakes, 3500 pizza slices, 1800 Italian ices, 50 pounds of hot wings, 40 pounds of Italian Beef, 2600 ears of corn, 600 nachos, 200 veggie wraps, 160 fruit kabobs, 500 Kalua pork, 300 teriyaki drumsticks, 2500 cheeseburgers, 450 Twinkies, 750 smoothies, 200 pounds of pork, 500 hot dogs, 300 Polish sausages, over 10,000 cups of beer and 1500 bottles of pop/water (purchased from the Pepsi Booth).
