Crop Walk for Hunger
Relief
The 2008 Des Plaines CROP Walk for hunger relief kicks off at
1:30 pm. on Sunday, Oct. 26 from the First Presbyterian Church of
Des Plaines, 1755 Howard Ave. (at Maple).
The 5k (approximately three miles) route goes to Our Lady of Hope
Church in Rosemont and then back to First Presbyterian Church.
Walkers and spectators are invited to come early to enjoy face
painting by Jewels the Clown beginning at 1:00 pm.
Since 1991, Des Plaines has participated in the Church World
Service (CWS) CROP Walk to fight hunger both locally and abroad. CWS
is an ecumenical ministry that provides disaster relief, refugee
assistance and self-help development to more than 80 countries.
Twenty-five percent of the funds raised by the Des Plaines CROP
WALK remain in our community and benefit three local organizations:
Northwest Suburban Day Care Center, Self-Help Closet & Pantry and
WINGS.
For further information about the Des Plaines CROP WALK contact
